תקציר הפרק
During the Ottoman siege of Constantinople, Sultan Mehmed II devised a brilliant strategy by transporting Ottoman ships overland to the Golden Horn, crippling Byzantine defenses. Meanwhile, Byzantium, under Emperor Constantine, was plagued by internal strife, with leaders divided on seeking Roman aid or focusing on defense, and a rebellion spurred by Gennadius further threatening unity. The shocking revelation that Demetrios was alive intensified the chaos, leading Constantine to suspect treason, though Plethon urged against rash actions. As the Ottomans prepared for a final assault, Byzantium teetered on the brink, struggling with both external pressures and internal discord in a historic countdown to its fate.
